Joshua,

Look at the above comments and check out the blog as well. All of the answers and the blog describe the best time for everyone to view. The shower peaked August 12th 17:44 UT which was 12:44 this afternoon for resident near Chicago, IL.

Just because the peak has passed doesn't mean they are not visible, the shower should remain strong until dawn on Thursday for people in the United States. Keep your head up.

Tonight is the meteor shower on August 12th. What time will it happen? All the websites are saying between midnight and 5 am. But when between then is it actually going to happen.

Thanks

Eli,

The answer to your question lies in the post you commented in. The comments and links in the post apply to people in the Eastern Time Zone. There are never any real guarantees of when the best time to look is. One can only observe and hope for the best.

Keep your head up.

Meteor Mom,

With all the hype surrounding this shower, one would expect the sky to be falling down like rain. For me it was cloudy here. I think most of that was due to the moon being so bright. Try having a look tonight around 9 PM EST and there may be some trickling in tomorrow morning too. One never knows when it comes to meteors.

As you know keep your head up!

- Meteor Mark

P.S. Congratulations to you on your new additions to the family.

Hey,
I went out a few times this morning but it was so over cast that I only saw about 6 total. It wasn't enough to wake the kids over.

I was thinking about trying again after midnight tonight.... How busy do you think it will be?
